Basilica of Koekelberg

Largest Art Deco building in the world
The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Brussels, better known as the Basilica of Koekelberg, is one of the most recognizable and iconic monuments in the Brussels skyline. With its impressive dome and monumental appearance, it captures the imagination of everyone who sees it. The basilica is not only an architectural masterpiece, but also a symbol of community spirit and collective ambition.
What makes this basilica particularly special is that it was built thanks to the dedication and commitment of generations of Belgians, who contributed to this national monument with their donations, whether or not these were made under social pressure. The constant search for money to finance the project characterizes the construction process of what is now the largest Art Deco building in the world.
A guided tour of the Basilica of Koekelberg allows you to discover all facets of this impressive building. Admire the grandeur of the rooms, enjoy the view over Brussels from the dome, and experience how art, architecture, and history come together in a place that still captures the imagination.
